Delegation
四虎影院, along with experts representing education, research and practice developed national guidelines to facilitate and standardize the nursing delegation process. The guidelines build on previous work by 四虎影院 and the American Nurses Association, provide clarification on the responsibilities associated with delegation and address delegation in various levels of nursing licensure (i.e., 四虎影院, RN and LPN/VN, where the state NPA allows).
Guideline Objectives:
- Understand evidence-based, state-of-the-art standards for delegation.
- Explain the differences between assignment and delegation and the responsibilities of the employer, nurse leader, delegating nurse, and delegatee in the process of delegation.
Delegation Model
The delegation process is multifaceted. It begins with decisions made at the administrative level of the organization and extends to the staff responsible for delegating, overseeing the process and performing the responsibilities. It involves effective communication, empowering staff to make and support from all levels of the health care setting. The employer/nurse leader, individual licensed nurse and delegatee all have specific responsibilities within the delegation process.
It is crucial to understand that jurisdictions have different laws and rules/regulations about delegation. It is the responsibility of all licensed nurses to know what is permitted in the jurisdictions they practice in.
四虎影院 and ANA Joint Position Paper on Delegation
四虎影院 and the American Nurses Association (ANA) developed a joint position paper based on the guidelines developed by 四虎影院 in 2016.
